This made me smile today, so I hope I can pass that smile along to you!
A sweet floral photo that my husband David took during one of our visits to Desert Botanical Garden. Happy weekend!

Another cactus-themed design for #KaleidoSaturday. 🙂

When you gaze long into the cactus, the cactus also gazes into you.

Desert Vista

Desert Vista by Karen Gadient, 2015

Since I had some friends ask to see one of my graphite watercolor landscapes, I’m posting this one (because David likes it and he makes me smile―plus he’s the one who drives me all over the place to see pretty things). Mind you, I’m no landscape artist… I’m just someone who has seen many miles of desert here in Arizona and I like to keep some of it in my sketchbooks. 🙂

Have a great week!

TGIF: Afternoon Garden

Afternoon Garden by Karen Gadient, 2015

My second “FingerPaintingFriday”: watercolor and gouache on watercolor paper. Done entirely with fingers (and a nail or two). The red dots for flowers were done by placing a dot of paint on a fingertip and dabbing―clean and repeat. This one, I let dry and scanned, although the red wasn’t so bright once dry, alas.

The paper size was only 4 x 6 inches. Postcard size. Too tiny for fingerprinted foliage, really… so, it’s messy, but hey―it was fun. 😀

Inspiration was the recent plant sale at Desert Botanical Garden, where David found some nice tall cactus for the porch and a huge jade plant for his office.

Enjoy your weekend, friends!
