Downpour

Downpour by Karen Gadient, 2017

Downpour. Acrylic on canvas.

It’s been monsoon season here in Arizona; the humidity has gone up and the rain has been coming down. While I loathe the heat of summer here, I admit that I love monsoon rainstorms―even with their occasional haboobs―enough to put up with the crazy temperatures. How’s the weather where you are?

The rain is falling all around,
It falls on field and tree,
It rains on the umbrellas here,
And on the ships at sea.
― Robert Louis Stevenson

I think the environment should be put in the category of our national security. Defense of our resources is just as important as defense abroad. Otherwise what is there to defend?

Fragmented Influence

Fragmented Influence by Karen Gadient, 2017

Fragmented Influence. Pastel, watercolor, ink, and digital mixed media.

I’ve been busy, so I thought having the ‘Mixed Media Monday’ prompt would help me keep up with posting to the blog. But I think I’ll just post when I can and make sure it’s at least weekly. I’ve been doing more design work and less painting but I just bought myself fresh art supplies and I know I’ll be experimenting with them, so I’ll try to share some fun stuff here. 🙂

Hope you’re having a lovely April!

We live in a rainbow of chaos. ― Paul Cézanne
