Fragmented Influence

Fragmented Influence by Karen Gadient, 2017

Fragmented Influence. Pastel, watercolor, ink, and digital mixed media.

I’ve been busy, so I thought having the ‘Mixed Media Monday’ prompt would help me keep up with posting to the blog. But I think I’ll just post when I can and make sure it’s at least weekly. I’ve been doing more design work and less painting but I just bought myself fresh art supplies and I know I’ll be experimenting with them, so I’ll try to share some fun stuff here. 🙂

Hope you’re having a lovely April!

TGIF: Casual Glimpse

Casual Glimpse by Karen Gadient, 2016

One more “FingerPaintingFriday”!
Watercolor and gouache on mixed media paper.

So…
I’ve done finger paintings on Fridays since March of 2015, and it’s been fun (plus I hope you’ve enjoyed viewing them), but I’m overdue for a change. Starting on Monday, I’ll be doing something new. I promise it will be colorful and posted weekly. Thank you for encouraging me while I create!

Enjoy your weekend, friends. 🙂

KarPaiTwenMo 4 : Art Marathon

KarPaiTwenMo 4 by Karen Gadient, 2016

Once again, while the writing world wrestles with NaNoWriMo, I’m going to spend November creating twenty different pieces of artwork for your enjoyment.

I’ve ‘won’ NaNoWriMo twice, but as my life changed, my goals changed too. My writing became a personal exploration of my inner landscape and less of a word count situation. So, instead, I now spend November with art.

I call it KarPaiTwenMo (Karen Paints Twenty in a Month). Five per week.

See my original post here, which shows how this started.

Back then, I did mainly digital art… now, I primarily use traditional media, so the canvas might be different, but the idea is similar―make a lot of artwork of some kind or another. Now that I’ve done this for a few years, I also post with more regularity, so you won’t have to wait long for new stuff.

I usually blog two or three times a week these days, but expect to see posts from me five times a week in November.

Also, despite keeping the marathon name and hashtag I created back in 2013―it’ll be more than twenty; I won’t be counting FingerPaintingFriday and I’ll still be doing those.

Best of luck to all of you participating in NaNoWriMo―and a successful November to everyone, no matter what your plans and goals are. Have fun and keep the coffee/tea pot brewing!

KarPaiTwenMo 3 : Art Marathon

KarPaiTwenMo 3: 2015 by Karen Gadient, 2015

While the writing world wrestles with NaNoWriMo, I’m going to spend November the way I did the for previous two years: creating twenty different pieces of artwork for your enjoyment. 🙂

I call it ‘KarPaiTwenMo‘ (Karen Paints Twenty in a Month). Five per week.

Actually, despite keeping the marathon name and hashtag―it’ll be 28 this year; I won’t be counting Finger Painting Friday or #KaleidoSaturday (you can check out that tag on Twitter to see more) and I’ll still be doing those.

I’ll try to keep up this year and have it all posted in a timely manner!

Best of luck to all of you participating in NaNoWriMo―and a successful November to everyone, no matter what your plans and goals are. Have fun and keep the coffee pot brewing!

Copyright and Using the Work of Others

Ask First Before Using Images

I don’t usually reshare my own posts, but this one deserves a repeat.

If you ever grab images right from Google or just pluck them from Pinterest or other sites, you might want to rethink your blogging habits. Not only are you using someone else’s work without permission, but you could get sued―and I pretty sure that’s not one of your blogging goals!

Positive People Quote - Karen Gadient, 2015

Since I’m striving to live by this lately, I wanted to make this quote into an image and share it here. I also want to thank all of you for following my blog and encouraging me. I never would have thought blogging could bring me so many wonderful friends and inspiration. Love to you all!

Daily Prompt: Water

Islands from the Clouds by Karen Gadient, 2014

Islands from the Clouds: I’ve always loved the view from an airplane window.

Photographers, artists, poets: show us WATER.

I did this one for fun and not for sale, but please click through the image to see my other artwork. Thanks!
