Inverness

Inverness View 1 by David Gadient, 2018

Two views of Inverness from atop the Inverness Castle viewpoint on a clear day. Although we’d been to Inverness twice on our last trip to Scotland, this was our first visit to the castle grounds. Inverness Castle now houses the courthouse, but the north tower is open to the public for the view―which is worth the climb!

Glencoe

Scotland Near Glencoe by David Gadient, 2018

Sharing a few photos when I can. Many of them will be David’s, although some will be mine. While in Scotland, we drove the North Coast 500, which we’d only seen the eastern side of in 2016. On the way to Inverness from Glasgow, we took the same route as last time so we could revisit the falls in Glencoe. Here are two photos from David’s collection on a cloudy-but-lovely day.

More Scotland Travels

Passing Places by David Gadient, 2018

My husband David and I have just returned from three weeks in Scotland, visiting places we were happy to see again—especially Orkney—as well as exploring new areas we hadn’t been to on our first trip two years ago (scroll down a bit to see all posts). We were also lucky to spend time with friends over meals and drinks. I don’t plan on making a day-by-day series of blog posts about this trip, but I’ll be glad to share a few photos once I regain a sense of local time. Hope you’re having a great week!

Open Shores

Open Shores by Karen Gadient, 2018

Open Shores. Gouache and digital mixed media.

I’ve been struggling with the flu since returning from our holiday travels. It’s better now, but I’m still exhausted most of the time, so I’ll probably be slow to update things online for a bit.

Hope you’ve had a good (and flu-free) start to 2018!

Fragmented Influence

Fragmented Influence by Karen Gadient, 2017

Fragmented Influence. Pastel, watercolor, ink, and digital mixed media.

I’ve been busy, so I thought having the ‘Mixed Media Monday’ prompt would help me keep up with posting to the blog. But I think I’ll just post when I can and make sure it’s at least weekly. I’ve been doing more design work and less painting but I just bought myself fresh art supplies and I know I’ll be experimenting with them, so I’ll try to share some fun stuff here. 🙂

Hope you’re having a lovely April!

Mixed Media Monday: Fever

Fever by Karen Gadient, 2017

Fever. Watercolor and ink.

Apologies for this being a day late; I returned from my holiday family trip with a bug and finally forced myself to the doctor yesterday. Under the spell of medication and exhaustion, this is what I’ve managed for this week: chaotic but interesting. I hope you’re having a happy and cold-or-flu-free start to the year!
