TGIF: Sonic Streamers

Sonic Streamers by Karen Gadient, 2015

It’s “FingerPaintingFriday” again! Watercolor on cold press watercolor paper. Used my nails on this one because I knew I’d be giving myself a manicure soon after.

Purple Flower

Purple Flower by Karen Gadient, 2015

Purple Flower. Photograph with traditional watercolor layers and digital mixed media.

My husband David takes some wonderful photos and we thought it would be fun to see what I could create with them using scanned traditional art media and digital painting and editing. This purple flower was one David found during our last trip to Desert Botanical Garden. No idea what kind of flower it is, but it was on a bush, not a cactus. I’ll experiment more with his photos and share here.

Hope you’re having a great week so far!

Happy Anniversary with WordPress.com!

That’s true. And time does fly! But I didn’t actually do anything with with my blog right away. And then, when I did, it was private. Finally… yep, I put my thoughts out to the world. Glad I did! Blogging can be quite the journey of self-discovery and I’ve met some great people (hi!) here in the blogosphere.

Enjoy your weekend, friends. 🙂

This morning, I saw #DrawABirdDay trending on Twitter. I thought it was cute. You know, birds and twittering and all that… so, I gathered a few unused acrylic scans and did some digital painting to make a hummingbird.

We have hummingbirds in our yard, thanks to the lovely blown glass feeder David’s parents gave us a few years ago. It’s mostly hummingbirds and doves around here. What kind of birds gather where you live?
