Experimental Grooves

Experimental Grooves by Karen Gadient, 2015

This morning, I discovered Krita―a free digital painting/illustration app that has some great features. After downloading and playing with it, I have to say it’s pretty cool and worth trying if you want to experiment with digital art.

While testing out the brushes, I built the image you see with this post. Maybe not the best example, due to the chaos of it being a brush test… but at least I didn’t also fiddle with variants (lots of fun stuff to work with there).

Mac version (my OS) is beta but more stable than they claim on their site; I had no problems with it. Krita is also available for Windows and Linux.

For note, Krita appears to be more like Corel Painter, whereas GIMP (also free) is similar to Adobe Photoshop, if that’s what you’re looking for.
