Warm Ink

Warm Ink by Karen Gadient, 2015

All colours will agree in the dark. ― Francis Bacon

Not the most complex artwork from usually-obsessive me, but I’m sick with a chest cold right now and work is moving slowly. This one was made with a fountain pen (60-year-old nib), then set over scanned pastel digitally.

  1. The colors are so vibrant, it looks translucent!

  2. I love the forms and colours and the quote from Bacon. I think Leonardo da Vinci thought along the same lines, saying that paintings should begin in the dark and work to the light… I’m paraphrasing, I’m sure he put it more eloquently! Keep on going and I hope you feel better soon,:-)

  3. Love this! Hope you’re feeling better soon.

  7. Love this! Fantastic vivid colours. Reminds me of a tribal painting my parents got from Africa πŸ™‚

  8. Get better soon, I bought myself a small steam inhaler last year it was good, don’t know if you’ve tried steam?

    • Thank you! I’ve got a humidifier and a neti pot, but this congestion just wants to stick around, alas. My grandparents used to swear by steam–mostly hanging their heads over a tented pot of boiling water. πŸ™‚

  9. This reminds me of some of early art on Egyptian walls, and maybe a touch of aboriginal art – bursting with colour as you always are!! πŸ˜€

I know how you feel on the chesty head cold – I have one too! Have had it for three weeks, the damn thing doesn’t seem to want to leave. Only today did the symptoms begin to diminish. I hope it leave you to very soon, nothing more oppressive than a rotten cold that effects your lungs. Warm hugs to you dear Karen!β™₯

    • Thanks, Suzy. πŸ™‚ Indeed, this one seems to be sticking around. I think I’m just adapting to living with it. It’s been a bit of a month of bad luck! Thanks for your lovely email too–I’ll reply as soon as I get my brain together. ❀

  12. Take care of yourself…. Spring colds are the pits.

Love the vibrance AND the simplicity. Images don’t have to be complicated to be beautiful.
