I have always been fascinated by the ocean, to dip a limb beneath its surface and know that I’m touching eternity, that it goes on forever until it begins here again. — Lauren DeStefano

Reverberation

Reverberation by Karen Gadient, 2014

Reverberation. Something fun I made using an unusual color palette. I see it as a dance of warmth and coolness, of sound and light.

Rapture of the Deep

Rapture of the Deep by Karen Gadient, 2014
Rapture of the Deep. Created with Corel Painter.

This one came from a dream I had recently where I was a diver deep below in some luminous sea. All around me were shadowy creatures, barely there and yet observable—harmless, welcoming, with some casting out light toward me and others racing around to leave trails behind them. It was a short dream, but oddly relaxing. It stuck with me, so I’ve tried to capture it with color.

Amplitude

Amplitude by Karen Gadient, 2014

I’ve been out of town, stressed, full of emotions, and busy with life. I’m grateful for the chance to sit down and express my inner mind’s chaos with a bit of color.

I know things will work out; they always do with my dear David by my side. Family, also. And friends too: thank you for being here. This is my birthday week, and I find myself more thoughtful than in previous years. Guess that comes with age and change! Cheers to the rest of the year ahead, for all of us.

Trust the dreams, for in them is hidden the gate to eternity.
