Companions for Clever Old Souls

Companion Karen by Karen Gadient, 2014

Just in time for our anniversary, here’s the companion ‘me’ to my darling husband’s Doctor (Who) portrait.

Although I don’t have regeneration as an excuse, I created a younger alternate self with slightly different features (hey, David got an upgrade and I wanted one too). I gave her my unevenly-cut hair, though; I’m always snipping the ends myself instead of going to the salon and I suspect I’d keep that quirk if I were busy with all that wibbly wobbly timey wimey stuff.

  1. I only seem to watch Dr. Who when my son’s around, but just the fact I knew what a Tardis was impressed the H*** out of my 5th graders!

  2. Congrats on your anniversary and the new! However, I suspect the “old” you is good enough! πŸ˜‰

Oh, it is! No complaints, to be honest. πŸ™‚ I look better now than I did in my twenties, fitness level and health-wise. Seriously. But this is a fantasy portrait, so I had a little fun.

      And thank you. πŸ™‚

  3. moustachio sideburn doctor and blue-eyed-blond companion take to the stars once again, happy anniversary!

  4. Upgrade. I like that. πŸ™‚

  5. Now that’s a neat little selfie πŸ™‚

  6. Yay! Love the resemblance between you and your portrait (going on your gravatar pic) the eyes are amazing! Very life like. Beautiful image πŸ˜‰ x

  7. This looks really lovely – the perfect Doctors companion! Amazing to be able to give yourself a makeover – wish I could do that!! πŸ˜€ I love the blue eyes they add a lovely contrast to the rest of the colours. So I’m guessing you’ve got real blue eyes?! The face in your header – is that you too? I’ve been meaning to ask you that for ages!
And as for cutting the ends of your hair – I do that too! πŸ™‚ Been cutting my hair for years now, I hate hairdressing salons, they’re so bitchy sometimes, in an unspoken kind of way. I think I’m a sensitive person and I pick up attitude from people very quickly. I prefer my own peace in my home and not having to breathe in a truck load of hairspray floating towards me from the woman having her hair done in the next chair – hate hairspray!!

Thanks! Yes, I have blue eyes in real life too. πŸ™‚ The woman in my blog header is a character from one of my novels. I should probably make a new header but I keep putting it off.

I finally got my hair trimmed by a hairdresser. On the cheap, of course, but it looks more even now. I’m the same about having to sit in a salon chair… it’s always a bit awkward!
