Teeming Wax

Teeming Wax by Karen Gadient

Experimenting with digital ink: when you take some color, dribble it onto paper and fold (mirror) it, smear it around here and there, then water some down and blow it all over the place with a (virtual) straw… you get something like this.

Reminds me of the Rorschach inkblot test. I think it might be looking at me.

My first thought was a run-over flattened red frog in the middle, but I see the eyes too. Or maybe a little red man with no head… ๐Ÿ˜€ What’s that say about me?

  2. We used to do something similar at school using poster paint on sugar paper, not as interesting as yours though, very Halloween!

I hadn’t even realized it could be Halloweeny and I’m glad I accidentally put something weird and creepy up in October. ๐Ÿ™‚

  3. That’s all done with Photoshop? Where’s the ‘mirror’ and ‘virtual straw’? so gorgeous.

  4. It must be fun to do that without making the actual mess.

  6. It’s amazing what you can do with digital ink! And I like the idea of a virtual straw! ๐Ÿ˜€

  7. You really are great with color!

  8. It reminds me of fun times a primary school. ๐Ÿ™‚ I particularly like the colours in the top half. Vibrant, dynamic, and excellently textured. What is the digital ink? It looks fantastic! What program are you using?
