The Desert in Bloom

Desert Bloom by David Gadient, 2013

Another fantastic photograph taken by my husband David Gadient. One of the lovely blooms at Desert Botanical Garden here in Phoenix, Arizona. We’re members and proud to support. Whether you’re local or visiting, the Garden is a wonderful place to explore the beauty of the Sonoran Desert.

  3. Your husband’s photo is amazing. What lovely rich colours.

Thanks! I’ll suggest to him that he offer some of his photos as desktop wallpaper. I know I use a few of them on my own laptop.

  5. What a great shot! Love that orange.

  6. Just beautiful! I think I had forgotten that you live in AZ. Thanks so much for highlighting the garden.

  7. That is fantastic! It’s a fabulous colour too! πŸ˜€ And a desert botanical garden sounds really interesting. We have botanical gardens in the UK, but not desert ones – too cold, especially at the moment, we are still waiting for summer to arrive!! πŸ™‚

Oh, summer has arrived full force here! Pretty sure we’re stuck over 100Β°F until autumn. I wouldn’t mind a little of your UK chill to visit us. πŸ˜€

  8. How on earth do you do it??? Could this blog get any more beautiful???

  9. I always loved when the desert was in bloom. When Don and I lived in Tucson we belonged to the Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum…so much life in the desert…and so much to learn about that life!

  10. What a gorgeous flower, better thanks to the photographer I’m sure. You need to link the pics to his website. BTW, has he ever tried dropping his photos into images.google.com to see if anyone is ‘borrowing’ them?

Thanks! I’ll pass along the comment. Haven’t searched for our images lately, but I might do a hunt later.

What vibrant colours, it’s brightened my day.

  12. Wonderful artistic photography! You and your husband clearly share the creative abilities! πŸ™‚

  13. I’ve always adored desert flowers, they seem sturdier somehow.

    • karengadient

In many ways, I suspect they are. Living here makes you pretty sturdy! Also, I love your blog. My father was in the European Theatre. I have so many of his photos and notebooks that I hope to someday blog like you do.

Right now, I’m taking care of my mother. I think he’d want me to focus on that first. But I suspect he’d also want me to share some of his collection and I’ll begin to sort through it. People need to remember those days.

  14. This is a very nice picture!
